Approach from Pordoispitze with a westward arc towards the southern flank of Mamolada. The northern side is thermally inactive and glaciated. Attempt flights in north wind conditions only if the wind is weak. First, study the thermals calmly on the southern wall. Fly at various altitudes, including the summit plateau and below it—this is crucial. The landing approach is on the northern side, in the lee of the southern wall thermals. Understanding the strength and frequency of thermal releases is essential. Land at the beginning of the pause between thermal releases, which often last 2-5 minutes. Land in the northern part of the plateau, away from rotors. Be cautious of strong sink in the lee; do not misjudge it. For the restart, sprint northward over the descending glacier.
